Kathleen B. Mauck, Esq.
BIO
After graduating from the University of South Carolina with a double major in Spanish and Political Science, Katie knew that law school was the next step for her. Enticed by Catholic University’s access to the city, Katie returned to her hometown, eager to learn more about the law, and pursued a certificate in Comparative & International Law in addition to her J.D. Katie graduated from Catholic University’s law school in 2021 and got barred in Maryland in 2023.
Her first internship during law school, was working for the Honorable Judge Hessler in the Montgomery County Circuit Court. This position allowed Katie to tap into her interest in family law. Katie worked mostly with the Children In Need of Assistance (CINA) cases, which is the Maryland program that deals with the legal issues surrounding foster care cases. During the pandemic Katie focused on helping immigrant families obtain citizenship through her internships, a clinical experience with the Immigration and Refugee Advocacy Clinic and working on the Texas/Mexico border with the Catholic Charities network. Through these experiences, Katie developed a belief that family law is more than just divorce, it is protecting children and working with their parents to ensure that divorces and other family law matters have the least amount of impact possible on the wellbeing of the children who unfortunately get involved in these matters. Working with the best interests of the child in mind gets Katie out of bed every morning.
Katie is a member of the Montgomery County Bar Association and a Notary Public. In her free time Katie likes to hike with her dog (Stella), exploring the District, and binging Netflix documentaries.
